March is the month when everyone goes crazy for basketball. But we figured, why let basketball players have all the fun? So for those of you who are less athletically inclined and more eat-letically inclined, we’ve set up a March Sandwichness bracket. Come back to Woot! every day to vote and help us decide which sandwich is the king of all things lunch!

All you have to do to participate is go to the polls and vote for your favorite sandwiches! It’s that easy! It’s even easier than it would be to actually eat the sandwiches! But probably a little less tasty.

Check back on Woot! tomorrow to see the winner’s from today’s poll and vote on the next round!

For our final region in the first round, we vote on the novelty sandwiches. From the delightful gluttony of the Elvis fried peanut butter and banana, to the refined classiness of the fancy cucumber tea sandwich, to the mystery of the sealed crustless PB&J (Has anyone actually eaten a sealed crustless PB&J? Are they any good?), we’ve got an assortment of strong contenders and interesting sandwich choices in today's region. If we’re going to have any dark horses or Cinderella stories, I think this is the region where they’ll happen (I'm looking at you, knuckle sandwich). Vote now and discuss below!

***UPDATE: THE RESULTS ARE IN

The winners from yesterday are:
(1) Cheesesteak defeated (16) Sloppy Joe
(8) Fried Chicken Biscuit defeated (9) Monte Cristo
(12) French Dip defeated (5) Meatball
(13) Hot Pastrami defeated (4) Meatloaf
(11) Fried Chicken defeated (6) Italian Beef
(3) Patty Melt defeated (14) Fried Fish
(7) Pulled Pork defeated (10) Rib Sandwich
(2) Reuben defeated (15) Fried Bologna

This proved to be a tumultuous round. In a few cases (Cheesesteak, Patty Melt, Pulled Pork, Reuben) the matches were runaways in favor of the higher seed. Fried Chicken Biscuit managed to defend its position against Monte Cristo, but only by a mere 46 votes. And we also had our share of upsets here.

Fried Chicken came from behind to edge out the Italian Beef, and both Meatball and Meatloaf were knocked out by the lower-seeded French Dip and Hot Pastrami. Looks like we might have a Cinderella story on our hands. Or a sandwich-ella? A cinder-sandwich? Either way, it’s going to be close!
