March is the month when everyone goes crazy for basketball. But we figured, why let basketball players have all the fun? So for those of you who are less athletically inclined and more eat-letically inclined, we’ve set up a March Sandwichness bracket. Come back to Woot! every day to vote and help us decide which sandwich is the king of all things lunch!

All you have to do to participate is go to the polls and vote for your favorite sandwiches! It’s that easy! It’s even easier than it would be to actually eat the sandwiches! But probably a little less tasty.

Check back on Woot! tomorrow to see the winners from today’s poll and vote on the next round!

The winners are in from our Elite Eight!

YESTERDAY'S WINNERS:

(1) Cheeseburger defeated (3) Grilled Cheese
(6) Gyros defeated (4) Crab Cake
(1) Cheesesteak defeated (7) Pulled Pork
(1) Breakfast defeated (2) Thanksgiving Leftover

To be honest, not too many surprises here. Crab Cake loses its run against Gyros and Cheeseburger continues a strong winning streak, defeating Grilled Cheese by such a significant margin that it’s starting to seem like there’s no way Cheeseburger can’t lose.

Our matches on the right side of the bracket proved to be a little more heated. It was a close race between Breakfast and Thanksgiving Leftover, but an even closer one between Pulled Pork and Cheesesteak. It seems like either one of those sandwiches could have been strong contenders going into the final rounds, so the conclusion I draw here is that cheese is generally the deciding factor in sandwich goodness (also evidenced early on by Ham and Cheese's victory over plain Ham).

Now we move on to our Final Four! Can you believe the competition is almost over? How many sandwiches have we inspired you to eat so far?

So, we’ve got Cheeseburger vs. Gyros. Gyros fans, if you want your sandwich to move on to the next round, you’re really going to have to rally here. Cheeseburger has been crushing it for the entire tournament and will most likely continue to crush it if you don’t step up your voting game. Vote from every computer you have! Get your friends and relatives to vote! Go to the library and vote from every public computer then bug the patrons who are there with laptops to vote too! Knock that smug Cheeseburger off of its high horse before it's too late and the Gyros is lost forever (from this particular sandwich tournament, at least).

And we also have Cheesesteak vs. Breakfast sandwich. This is gonna be a tough race. Cheesesteak has had a strong run throughout the tournament, and it finds its strength in things that are pretty undeniable (cheese, steak). But can cheesy-meaty-Cheesesteak-charm really stack up against the Breakfast sandwich, a sandwich that’s always there for us in our moments of direst need (mornings, hangovers, 2 AM at Jack in the Box)? Can the Cheesesteak’s aesthetic of hometown solidarity and overwhelming meatiness really compete with the emotional comforts and necessary morning nourishment that Breakfast sandwich offers us time and time again?

I really can’t answer that. But you can! Vote now!
